The mess
Punch-in, then the lyric is gone.
You drop in on bar 17. The vocal is right. Ten minutes later you are typing what you think you said, or bouncing stems so someone else can guess. DAWs will ship speech-to-text. Punch2Pen is lighter: written text linked to timecode, in the plugin, while you still have the headphones on.
Local first
Free / lite talks to an engine on the Mac. Generic speech-to-text. No account. No cloud. Corrections in that session. Paid is the portable dictionary and login — not a vendor lock.

AU + VST3 + local engine in one unsigned pkg. Bundle codes stay Dcta / P2pn / aufx. Whisper model is not in the installer; the repo documents where it goes.
